Nine Days of Celebration
The festival of nine nights or Navratri is being done in honor of the Goddess Durga. This particular festival is celebrated twice a year. The first celebration is done in March or April and the second one is during the month of September or October. During these celebrations, people see to it that they have fun and they celebrate with a lot of merry making.
There are people who fast and really observe this type of ritual every year. There are parts in India that celebrate this particular festival in a different style. They usually do the Garba dance to commemorate this special day. They place the image of the Goddess Durga in the center while they are dancing. They wear colorful costumes and the women see to it that they are properly dressed for the said occasion. They really take time out to prepare for the dance routines and the costumes that they are going to wear.
